A number of the big dogs in the entertainment industry have been showing off their 3D Blu-ray representatives at the on-going Consumer Electronics Show. Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and Toshiba have all unveiled new players capable of supporting the technology, all with differing specs, sparks and general spangle. Sony announced their BDP-S770 which is due to be released this summer. As well as 3D capability, it will also feature WiFi, an iPhone/iPod Touch app allowing remote interactivity and the capability of streaming through Amazon, Netflix and YouTube to name a few. There's even some good news for us PS3 owners too, with the knowledge that the console's Blu-ray player will support the format when married with compatible Sony Bravia television sets.
Samsung weigh in with the BD-C6900 although no other information has been divulged other than it will be compatible with Samsung's existing 3D displays. Toshiba have bought their BDX3000 to the 3D party too. Expected sometime after June, it will have WiFi capability enabling easy streaming from the likes of Netflix and Pandora.
Finally, Panasonic's baby comes in the form of the DMP-BDT350 which will feature VIERA CAST, enabling similar streaming options to that of Sony's machine. However, it will require a link to a network through a USB port in the absence of WiFi capabilities. To make up for this omission, it will feature 96 KHZ surround re-master and 1080p upscaling. No prices for any of the products have been announced as of yet, but with 3D clearly being the way forward, we are very much hyped about its arrival.
