Sony Step Up 3D Interest
Dedicated Network Planned
Sony Step Up 3D Interest

Sony, leaders in not only the gaming arena but the entertainment sector as a whole, have combined their skills with those of Discovery Communications and IMAX to form a dedicated 3D television network. The annual CES convention in Las Vegas was the setting for the announcement, which emphasises the impact 3D viewing looks set to have on the way we watch films and television in the very near future. The network would provide 3D viewing for anyone who has a compatible set enabling the utilisation of the feature for day-to-day viewing.

Sir Howard Stringer, the chief at Sony said, "Sony is the only company with expertise in every part of the 3D value chain. It is clear to us that consumers will always migrate to a better and richer entertainment experience, and together we are determined to be the leader in providing that around the world."

A section of the press release says that the network will feature, "high-quality premium content from genres that are most appealing in 3D, including natural history, space, exploration, adventure, engineering, science and technology, motion pictures and children's programming."

More and more talk is creeping up about this exciting technology and this news not only promotes it as a top-notch experience, but one that we can enjoy all of the time. Maybe it will only be a matter of time before 3D is standard in typical households? Good times we say!
