While the rest of us are playing games, watching telly and slapping on our top Blu-ray using our hands like fools, the crew at Emotive have come up with a mind-control form of entertainment. The company's EPOC human-computer interface has been in production for a little while now and its potential has been very much hyped within the Virtual Generation. In its simplest form, this interface allows you to control games by using nothing but the power of your mind.
It gives users the chance to play games through Windows and rather than use a standard controller, gamers must instead wear high-tech head gear that registers facial expressions and mind controls. This astounding piece of technology uses electroencephalography which records electrical activity on the scalp which is caused by the firing of neurons in the brain. Although currently only available on the PC it is thought that it could well enter the console gaming market should the demand be high enough.
The product has been trialled for some time and despite a botched press conference demonstration, it is to be released into the American market. The device will cost $299 and will be available from December 21st this year. No release date has been discussed for a UK release as of yet but surely a successful launch in the US would see technology this advanced make its way here in the future.
