Legendary film director Steven Spielberg, has been giving his own insight into the future of the gaming industry in a chat with the Guardian newspaper's online technology blog.
Spielberg stated that he felt traditional consoles would eventually "go the way of the Dodo Bird", with players eventually experiencing games directly through their TV sets. Well, anything that could end the concept of fanboys is alright by us, Steven!
The director continued on to state that he felt the short term future of games would be based around 3D gaming "with a good pair of glasses...in front of an appropriate monitor". Following this, Spielberg believes that Virtual Reality gaming will be upon us, stating: "I really think virtual reality, which experimentally came and went in the eighties, is going to be redeveloped, just like 3D is being redeveloped today, and that's going to be the new platform for our gaming future."
