If you've seen fairies flying at the bottom of your garden, but you've missed every opportunity to snap a picture of them. Well, there isn't an app for that, but there is new augmented reality app Fairy Trails.
iPhone games developer Freeverse have just launched their new AR game on the app store. Using
the iPhone OS 3.1 including camera and compass, Fairy Trails merges real life footage with virtual fairies for an interactive experience.
The idea is to shake the iPhone to power the detector and then scan your surroundings for the magical fairies, fireflies and butterflies. Simply tap the creatures to collect them in your jar. The more fairies you capture, the more power you'll have to detect and capture the stubborn special fairies! For iPod Touch users, a rendered forest setting is used instead of the real world, making up for the lack of a camera on the device.
"The iPhone's ability to allow us to merge 3D game elements with real world, real time environments, opens up tremendous possibilities for new games and apps." says Ian Lynch Smith, president of Freeverse. "We're really excited about this new technology and have just begun to scratch the surface of its potential."
Fairy Trails is available for £1.19 from the App Store on iPhone and iPod Touch. For more info visit: http://freeverse.com/fairytrails
