29-12-11: A new Facebook game has launched, from Orville Redenbacher, a brand of Popcorn, which features augmented reality.
Known as the 'Pop Cam', it integrates the use of people's webcams and drops virtual popcorn which the player can then catch in their mouths. The aim is to catch all the pieces as missing a certain amount will end the game.
The game was designed to "... engage consumers in a deeper way with the intrinsic health benefits of popcorn," said Jonas Paretzkin, manager of interactive marketing at ConAgra Foods, the parent company of Orville Redenbacher's. "Popcorn as a snack isn't really top of mind these days for consumers, so we wanted to make sure popcorn became top of mind again."
