20-12-11: We only discussed the future of augmented reality a few days ago [found here] and the popular opinion seemed to be that it can only really develop when wearable technology is introduced.
Of course, people are referring to glasses, but it seems both Apple are taking a step in the right direction and are working on a wearable augmented reality Smartphone.
Apple are thought to have been working on this for some time, aiming to integrate Siri with the device.
Google have also been working hard, it seems and are said to have been hiring engineers who specialise in wearable computers and are rumoured to be working on a pair of augmented reality glasses. They are said to look like an average pair of thick-rimmed glasses, featuring buttons on the side and allowing users to plug into realtime search results, based upon whatever they are viewing. But there is no word as the whether when or if these will be released.
