Avatar To Bring 3D Home
Cameron Confirms Assumptions

After the official announcement from the Blu-ray Disc Association that it would be incorporating 3D into it's format, James Cameron has confirmed that his film Avatar will be making its way to the new technology. After smashing US Box Offices in its first weekend, raking in over $232 million, the inevitable revelation was made. Cameron did confess however, that the film will likely receive a standard Blu-ray release before, to allow time for the format to have bedded in sufficiently.

Cameron said, "Probably the initial Blu-ray release of Avatar won't be in 3-D and then a subsequent release will be in 3-D. That's my guess right now." He continued, "So we will probably put out a disk, you know, in six or eight months, let's call it six months, and then after that we will have a 3-D disc when there are enough sets available."

The movie creating genius also confirmed that the standard Blu-ray release would include some deleted scenes, taken from the middle of the pre-finished article. He said, "It's all wonderful stuff, but it was sort of bogging down the middle section of the movie. There's plenty for a value-added DVD experience on this film. Of course, we'll have to go punch it all up and get it all mixed and stuff like that."

A case of when, rather than if, then for Avatar 3D Blu-ray and it looks likely that this will be one of the, if the first title available on the new format. We certainly could have worse candidates!
