Microsoft's portable media device may not be up to the standards of Apples when it comes to apps and games, but if the recent 4.3 update is anything to go by the Zune is set to finally take a bite out of the Apple iPod Touch. As well as a browser update and an improved text input system, the latest firmware update includes support for 3D games and applications.
Zune HD is not exactly famous for its array of games, with the choice available being standard casual games such as Sudoku and Texas Hold 'em. Now things are set to change with the latest firmware, plus an update to the XNA Game Studio. This allows independent developers to create games for the device using the touchscreen, accelerometer and the new 3D capabilities.
No 3D games or apps have been released yet, but I expect they'll be flooding the device sooner or later.
